With the aspiration to laid foundation for supporting students to improve skills in co curricular activities mechanical engineering department formulated student’s forum “MECHTRIX” on 10th March 2021. “MECHTRIX” abbreviated as:
The main objectives of forum are:
- To provide a platform to organize activities, to increases the creativity and imagination skills of the students, thereby helping them in developing innovative ideas.
- To enhance student open minds and positively critic spirits to recognize social and ethical responsibilities for what they have researched and developed.
- To acknowledge role of engineers in the global society, and develop the leadership for industrial, academic and research institutes.
- To improve communication skills of the students so that they can share their ideas with others, thus establishing the leadership skills to manage the forum effectively.
- To organize various technical / non technical events, competitions, social activities in or around university areas.
To fulfill the above goals, forum had organized till now various activities as under:
1) Name of event: Ludo Competition
Date of event: 15th - 16th April 2021
Summary of event:Our student’s council of mechanical engineering successfully organized two days online ludo event. Total 80 participants including students and faculty members actively took part in this event.
On first day, total 20 team comprises of 4 members each participated in competition out of which one member from each team were selected for semi final round. Semi final round was conducted on next day, wherein 5 players out of 20 players were selected for final round scheduled on same day. In the end, certificates were distributed to all participants and winner.

2) Name of event: Food Distribution
Date of event: 18th September 2021
Summary of event:According to inspirational quotes given by Mother Teresa “You have two hands, one to help yourself and the second to help other”; mechanical student’s forum distributed food left over after fresher’s party nearby university areas covering Pavagadh & Arad road which served around 400 poor people including small children and elders.

3) Name of event: Clothes Donation Drive
Date of event: 21st September 2021 - 7th November 2021
Summary of event:According to motivational quotes given by Winston Churchill “We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give”; mechanical student’s forum organized 15 days clothing drive which includes donation of old clothes, toys, household accessories and small students study materials for poverty stricken peoples.
Initially we have planned to distribute them on the auspicious occasion of Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti dated 2nd October 2021 (Saturday). But due to overwhelming response, we had extended the drive for one more week and finally we donated around 700 items around our university village areas like Raval, Nimeta, Kandha, Gajadara and Chipad.
On behalf of MECHTRIX team, we personally thanks to all who have supported us and be a part of someone’s happiness. At last, as a part of motivation certificates were distributed to winner who had given maximum items in this drive.

4) Name of event: Diwali Celebration (Sweets and Diya Distribution)
Date of event: 1st November 2021
Summary of event:Diwali and New Year is a festival of lights and happiness. Diwali brings joy and prosperity to everyone, but there are people who cannot afford lights and happiness in their life. Some of them just see others enjoying but cannot enjoy themselves. We as humans are more capable then we should try to bring happiness in their life.
As a mechanical student forum, we had distributed 501 sweets, 1001 diyas and 101 crackers in the form of light and happiness to those who just see diwali and expect it. Thus, such moments were fulfilled with all students and faculty member’s precious support and togetherness.

A special camp was organized at ITM Vocational University, Vadodara in association with Indian Red Cross Society on 12 February 2021 for Thalassemia Screening for the students of the University. The token rate of 150/- Rs. was charged from the students for the screening test. The team from Indian Red-Cross Society was specially invited for collection of blood samples for testing. Prior to the organization of Thalassemia camp, All the students were made aware about Thalassemia, its type and the effect of this blood disorder in our life. The importance of Thalassemia testing was also elaborated as it is the only measure of preventing spreading of this disorder. A large number of students were present during the camp for getting their blood tested. In total around 100 members including students and faculty provided their blood sample for testing. “The camp was another evidence of the remarkable efforts done by the University for all round development of their students and staffs and taking up regular measures of social cause.” said Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, ITM Vocational University.

On 04th February 2021 ITM Vocational University organized “National Level Awareness Program (NLAP)” in collaboration with "Ministry of MSME - A Government of India initiative". The awareness program was conducted by KVIC State office, the objective of the program is to increase the outreach of its institutions and schemes to the general public.
Under NLAP 2021, students from various districts are encouraged by the field officers of the “Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises- MSME” to take up entrepreneurship and are educated about the schemes implemented by the Ministry through Audio/ Video films / Presentation along with distribution of brochures etc.
“Our university actively promotes entrepreneurship program and culture.” Said Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, ITM Vocational University. The NLAP program was conducted at our campus by officers from KVIC Mr. Ajay Kumar Rajpal - State Office, KVIC, Ahmedabad and Prof. Manohar Lal - ITMVU.
Brain storming was done on importance of Entrepreneurship and various Government Schemes including "Prime Minister Employment Generation Program (PMEGP)" the benefit and complete process of the schemes were discussed. Prof. Manohar Lal discussed about the MSME SFURTI scheme in details and the projects ITM Vocational University is currently promoting. The program was attended by students of all streams with enthusiasm which boosted their journey in becoming future entrepreneurs.

ITM Vocational University organized its second HNOP(Horn Not OK Please) drive on 2 nd February 2021 with the Mission of Spreading Awareness of “NO HONKING”. The special event graced by DCP Traffic Vadodara - Shri Andrew Macwan, Dr. Gautam Patel - HOD, Faculty of Life Health and Allied Sciences and Prof. Manohar Lal - HOD, Faculty of Management Economics and Commerce.
DCP Macwan said that Noise Pollution is least addressed cause and was glad ITM Vocational University and The Provost Dr. Anil Bisen was actively taking matters in hands and with the students participating in higher numbers the youth was connected and responded well to the campaign as the future lies in there hands and will help us in nearby future to reduce noise pollution.
The Drive was supported by Vadodara Traffic Police, 98.3 Radio Mirchi, Hero Century Bikes and Ridding Sultans, RJ Puja was also seen promoting Traffic Rules and Safety Measures in front of 500 plus individuals.
Participants used Decrypt application (developed by our university students) on their mobile phones to get clues and reach the winning point.
The winning team was awarded the option of choosing the Trip to Goa or Phuket and Runners up got the Cash Prize of Rs 2000 which was decided by Spinning Wheel.

On 20 January 2021 ITM Vocational University organized a Workshop on Hemoglobinopathies: Screening and Awareness. The screening and awareness session were facilitated by Ms. Minal Thakkar, In-charge Principle, Shree P.M. Patel college of paramedical science, Sardar Patel University, Anand. The session included interesting presentation on Hemoglobinopathies. She also explained methodologies for screening of hemoglobinopathies. This session was followed by an awareness speech given by Mr. Upendra Bhoi, member of Indian Red cross society, Gujarat state branch, Ahemdabad. He showed short films on Sickle cell disease and Thalassemia disease. He explained the importance of screening of such disease to the students.
There was a total of 40 participants of Department of Medical Lab. Technology in this program. “As these are severe and life-threatening diseases the knowledge and the screening of such diseases becomes very much important. The awareness regarding this is necessary for reducing or eliminating the risk of hemoglobinopathies.” Said Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, ITM Vocational University. This program helped students in getting awareness about their social responsibility. It provided individuals a feeling of empowerment and better confidence level.

ITM Vocational University, Vadodara in association with Community Health Centre, Dabhoi organized a free super speciality eye check-up camp for the residents of Kundhela village on 21 January 2021. In total 120 patients were examined for cataract and refractive errors by the team. Also, Door to Door visits were carried out to identify patients dealing with cataract.
The objective of this general Eye check-up camp was to facilitate the detection of eye disorders and Refractive errors among the residents of the village and also provide guidelines on the general eye-care precautionary measures. An attempt was made my the ITM team to spread awareness about Eye health. Highlighting the prosocial behaviour of ITM Vocational University, Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, said “Many such camps have been organized in rural areas in the past and more of them will be organized in the future. ITM believes in giving back to the society and also tries to inculcate the same value in its students.”

Recently, Students of ITM Vocational University took one more step for the betterment of society. This time 14 students of the university worked for one day to promote Khadi at Khadi Gramodyog, Raopura. They showcased all designer clothes which were used in Fashion Show to promote Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion.
“The aim of the activity was to boost the sale of Khadi and to promote Khadi as a zero-carbon footprint fabric that is perfectly suitable for the Indian Climate.” Said Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, ITM Vocational University. It was a great experience for students also who got the guidance about the fabric and handicrafts. Around 300 walk ins were there through ITM Vocational University’s invitation.

Plastic Pollution is large and giving adverse effect to environment and health of living organisms. ITM Vocational University visited Raval village’s primary school (adopted village under UBA) to aware primary students about above subject. Engineering Students performed a Drama to highlight the issue and taught unity through games. Optometry students collected name of students, who felt difficulty in far or near vision. Mr. Jaiminkumar Bhatt talked to school students about plastic alternatives like Leaf cutlery and plates out of tetra pack wastes & milk pouches made by ITMVU, Metal straw and cotton carry bag. Addressing the growing issue of plastic, Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, ITM Vocational University said, “Plastics and their by-products are littering our cities, oceans, and waterways, and contributing to health problems in humans and animals.”

ITM Vocational University had hosted a fashion show based on the theme ‘Rise of Khadi 2019’ in association with Khadi Gram Udhyog Vadodara on 18 October 2019 to promote ‘Khadi for Nation, Khadi for Fashion.’ To celebrate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Anarben Patel, Chairperson of Khadi and Handicraft promotion committee of Businesswomen’s Wing of Gujarat Chamber of Commerce and Shri Achal Tyagi, Deputy Commissioner, Vadodara City. On this occasion, Dr. Anil Bisen, Provost, ITM Vocational University, addressed the audience and said, “Your presence today, reaffirms ‘the universal relevance of the principle of non-violence’ and the desire to secure a culture of peace, tolerance, understanding and non-violence.” In the event, there was a representation of every age category who gloriously wore designer Khadi clothes and walked on the ramp. Here one could see a glimpse of the past, present and future clothes of Khadi.

Theme: Blood Donation Camp and NABL/NABH Training
Report: Blood Donation camp for students and faculties of ITMVU, Vadodara and NABH/NABL Training session for students of MLT, Optometry and Nursing
Date: August 7, 2019 (Wednesday)
A blood donation camp was organized by Department of Medical Lab. Technology, FLHAS, ITM vocational University, Vadodara in association with SSG Hospital, Vadodara on 7th August 2019 followed by training session of NABL/NABH for the students of B.Sc. MLT, B. Optometry and Nursing.
A team of 4 doctors and 8 assistants of SSG Hospital came for collection of Blood. These activity of blood donation was started by ITMVU staff members and students. There was an overwhelming response from students and faculties. A total of 61 blood units were collected from 71 registered donors in the camp. Some of the donors who could not donate this time were assured for donation in the next camp. A certificate of appreciation, Blood group Card, refreshment was given to each donor as a token of gratitude.
Along with Blood Donation camp, NABH/NABL (National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Healthcare Providers / National Accreditation Board of Testing & Calibration Laboratories) Training Session was also organized. It was a great experience to organize the NABL/NABH training in ITMVU campus, Vadodara. The training session helped the faculty member and 120 students of Department of Medical Lab. Technology, B. Optometry and Nursing to understand various aspects of accreditation for Hospitals and Laboratories.
The training session was with interesting presentation and discussions on NABH/NABL. The session delivered by Dr. Jaimin Pandya, a certified QCI member, an expert of NABH/NABL program was very informative and insightful. It provided us with a valuable learning experience.
Dr. Jaimin Pandya included various topics like QCI, NABH, NABL etc. in his session. He also discussed importance of NABH and NABL in upcoming future by providing information about current scenario. He also gave an information about good clinical practices, clinical audits and risk management, nursing excellence.
The Department of Medical Lab. Technology would like to thank Dr. K. S. Murthy, Provost, ITM Vocational University, Dr. Anil Bisen, In-charge Provost, ITM Vocational University and Dr. Gautam Patel, Head, Faculty of Life, Health & Allied Sciences for giving us an opportunity to organize Blood Donation Camp and helpful & informative Training session of NABH/NABL.
